It’s a Screen Junkies milestone! 99 Honest Trailers down, and now number 100 is a movie that seemed destined for internet mockery; Fifty Shades of Grey. Before you take your first lash of the whip or sign your first non-disclosure agreement, they are already making fun of the Twilight fan-fiction that turned an annoying teenage girl’s vampire fantasy into a bored adult woman’s kinda sorta erotic fantasy… “what are butt plugs?†They’re plugs… for your butt.
Check out the video below.
Opening with an interview with Snowqueens Icedragon herself, and quickly going into full on Twilight induced sarcasm, narrator Jon Bailey has a field day here. The movie that left audiences all over asking, “is that it?†After mixing up Dakota Johnson for Kristen Stewart we meet Christian “Edward Cullen†Grey. Then it’s time for the hot steamy action we expect like contract negotiations and emails… seriously there doesn’t seem to be much here to see in terms of erotica. “Tender missionary lovemaking… Let’s get kinky weird! Epic voice guy has a dull marriage!â€
In a variation of the Honest Trailers “STARRING†we get a list of absolutely ridiculous lines from the book thankfully omitted from the film. The one about the Communist Manifesto has me dying! These pathetic lines are backed by a parody of film’s hit song “Crazy in Love†by Beyonce featuring lyrics like “Wish someone would taze me right now.†We conclude with an obvious but dead on joke about skipping the movie completely and just watching porn.
This was as obvious an Honest Trailer as I’ve seen, but then again the source material was SUCH an easy target. Screen Junkies has over four million YouTube subscribers and produces a new Honest Trailer every Tuesday. Hopefully they continue on for hundreds more, because there are no funnier five minutes on the internet each week.
