Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Agent Carter’ Renewed; ‘AoS’ Spinoff Out
  |  @   |

Since it is May, networks are announcing which shows are getting pilots, another season, and which shows are being cancelled. ABC’s two Marvel flagship series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, are getting new seasons, but the AoS spinoff that was suppose to star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood is not getting the greenlight. More below.

Deadline was the first to break the news. According to them, ABC has put the breaks on the AoS spinoff, which would have been lead by Palicki and Blood.

It was also confirmed that the final episodes of AoS would have been a lead-in to the spinoff. No word yet on if the two will stay with AoS, but since it is getting a third season, it is safe to say that the two will be in it for at least a number of episodes, if not the entire season. As why the studio pulled the plug, that is still unknown. According to the site, fans were unhappy to hear that two of the strongest characters are on the show are being pulled to have their own show.

However, the Marvel series that is being penned by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave, American Crime) is still very much a go. There is still no confirmation as to who may or may not appear in the series. Ridley’s spinoff is said to be a reinvention of an already existing superhero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That show is Ridley’s second (after American Crime) under an overall deal he has with the network.

Agent Carter is perhaps the most surprising of all. Despite the strong writing, the show consistently had weak ratings, and was on the bubble on the verge of cancellation, which is nearly parallel to AoS‘ first season.
