Last week’s Olympus saw Hero (Tom York) finally make it to Athens and confront his father, King Aegeus (Graham Shiels) which is what he wanted, and his brother Lykos (Wayne Burns), which he did not. Oracle (Sonya Cassidy) is still trapped with King Minos (Alan C. Peterson) and his daughter Ariadne (Sophia Lauchlin Hirt), who is getting pretty frisky. She is only holding them at bay with fake visions and advice. And yay! Daedalus (Matt Frewer) isn’t blind!

Olympus 1.6 “The Lexicon” review: Medea (Sonita Henry) thinks Aegeus is being a dumbass with a terrible approach. I know. I’m not giving anyone any new information there. We see the origins of Hero, as Aegeus (with hair) has sex with Hero’s mother, and then tells her about the curse he’s bestowed upon their unborn child. A little too late Aegeus! He has a confrontation with this archer chick that had been running around in the present. Her name is Lady Magus. I still have no idea what she’s after besides killing everyone, whether or not they answer her questions. That cuts to present day, where King Aegeus tries to convince Hero that he did try to find them and the reasoning behind leaving the ring behind. That seems to work a little. Later on he starts strangling Hero which really brings the bonding back quite a few steps. Oh Aegeus. you are so dumb!

Medea tries to get Hero buttered up, after all, he has to give over the Lexicon willingly. She tells Aegeus to acknowledge Hero publicly in a naming ceremony. She really is the best part of the show.

Xerxes (Cas Anvar) throws Pallas (John Emmet Tracy) under the bus (if they had been invented yet), and Aegeus throws Pallas in lockup.

Really funny part: Oracle asks Daedalus to create a diversion so she can escape. So he shows off his new prototype and releases tons of bees, while talking about diversions. Matt Frewer is awesome!

Hero ends up finally agreeing because he doesn’t want to be a coward like his dad, giving the responsibility to his future son. Ouch!

I think I really enjoy hearing Aegeus’s terrible war plans. They are comical, especially when others react to them.

I am glad that Medea is getting right down to business. I hope they unlock the Lexicon soon and unlock a whole set of possibilities.

Olympus airs Thursday nights at 10pm on Syfy.
