Last week on The Returned, we saw how Helen (Michelle Forbes) died. And our feelings about her insanity were justified when we saw she was in an asylum BEFORE she died.

Peter (Jeremy Sisto) confesses at the memorial that the reason the others shouldn’t ostracize Camille (India Ennenga), because he too, died and came back.

Victor (Dylan Kingwell) tries to get rid of Nikki (Agnes Bruckner – who by the way, plays Lily, the dragon on Once Upon A Time), after Nikki finds out about another “fairy” he had. He makes her have a vision of a cold and angry Julie (Sandrine Holt), and she falls down the stairs. I swear I thought she was dead. Real Julie comes out and knows what’s up now.

Simon (Mat Vairo) gets some money and a van from Peter, and promptly kidnaps Chloe. But he returns her and Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) lets him go and tells Tommy (Kevin Alejandro) to lay off.

The Returned 1.10 “Peter” review: As in all titled episodes, we get more in-depth into Peter’s past. This shows us that the other guy, the one who killed Victor/Henry, also killed him in a scuffle 29 years ago. Everyone is mad at Peter now – Claire for keeping that from her, Tommy… well, Tommy just thinks he’s super suspicious, so he throws him in jail.

It is Rowan and Tommy’s wedding. It does happen, but there are many moments of expected ruin, that just don’t happen. It is at the reception that Lucy hears the voices (and sees black gurgling muck in the sink), and warns Rowan to listen to the man who is coming. We know who that is.

I did get uncomfortable with the Camille/Ben sex scene. Then I got super creeped out by what happened after that. Lena (Sophie Lowe) was upset too. Then she sees… Adam?

Cliffhangers galore! It reminded me of the days of “Who shot JR?” and when everybody got shot at that Dynasty wedding – when cliffhangers really left you hanging. Nowadays, many times the season will give an ending that is a conclusion, and give you a hint of what the big conflict will be in the next season.

Literally, Simon is running to save the town, and we have no idea if the dam will break, if everyone dies, as hinted, if everyone is already dead, if some make it, if none make it… seriously? Completely left hanging and I have to wait an entire year or forever (see below) to know what happens.

So the questions for next season (if there is one):

– Will Simon save the town? Or at least Rowan?
– After sex with Camille, why did that happen to Ben?
– Where did Lena disappear to? Was it Adam (Rhys Ward)?
– Where did Victor go and will we follow him? Or stay in Caldwell?
– If the town dies, will some of the residents come back like before?

Damn you Carlton Cuse!

There is no word yet on if The Returned gets to come back season 2. What? The Returned needs to come back season 2!
