HBO has released a second trailer for the upcoming season two of the hit crime drama True Detective, which stars Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly. Created and written by Nic Pizzolatto, the first two episodes of season two are directed by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 3-6, Star Trek 3), who takes over for season one director Cary Fukunaga.
Click on over to the other side now to read a full rundown of who the actors are playing and check out the new trailer.
Here’s all the details on who each of the stars of season two are playing, which is about all we have to go on story wise so far:
Farrell (In Bruges, Minority Report) plays Ray Velcoro, a “compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”
McAdams (Midnight in Paris, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) will play Ani Bezzerides, “a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.”
Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) stars as Frank Semyon, “a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”
Kitsch (John Carter, Lone Survivor) plays the character Paul Woodrugh, “a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.”
Reilly (Above Suspicion, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) plays Semyon’s wife, “a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.”
If you missed the first trailer, you can watch it right here.
The second season of True Detective will premiere on HBO on June 21st.
