Watch Now: First ‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Trailer
  |  @   |

Fox has just unveiled our very first look at Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the sequel to the successful adaptation of the first Maze Runner.

The film will center on Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and the group of survivors who successfully navigated their way out of the Glade, where they discover that they have all just been a part of a devious program appropriately named WCKD. When they learn that there is only more trouble if they stay where they are at, they decide to break out to see if there are answers in the Scorch, the outside world that has been obliterated by a massive solar flare. You can read a synopsis and check out the trailer below.

In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

Based on a series of novels written by James Dashner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner), and stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually, Game of Thrones), Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Revolution), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones, The Wire), Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile), Lili Taylor (The Conjuring, High Fidelity), Patricia Clarkson (The Station Agent, Pieces of April), Ki Hong Lee (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Maze Runner), Rosa Salazar (Insurgent, Epic), and Jacob Lofland (Mud, Justified). The film opens in theaters on September 18.

The first Maze Runner was released in September of last year, and would go on to score $102.4 million domestically and $238.3 million in foreign markets for an impressive worldwide grand total of $340.7 million on the surprisingly low production budget of only $34 million.

So what do you think?
