Bumblebee May Get His Own ‘Transformers’ Spinoff
  |  @   |

Of the many Transformers on the ever changing Autobot roster, Bumblebee is probably the one that consistently appears. In fact, like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee has appeared in all four Transformers live-action films. Paramount has formed a Transformers story trust to create sequels and spinoffs, with another sequel intended to be directed by Michael Bay after he finished his work on his Benghazi movie 13 Hours. The studio is targeting a 2017 release, and a spinoff rumored to take place on Cybertron.

Now, a new rumor has emerged saying that another spinoff could focus on Bumblebee.

More on the story below.

TFW2005 reports that Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, who was at the Global Consumer Conference, talked about the future of Bumblebee to attendees, and stopped short of confirming his own spinoff:

“As we go forward, we would imagine several more Transformers Movies. Not just in the current lineage but also spinoffs and focusing on certain key characters that are beloved by the world over. Many of you know Bumblebee; the yellow Camaro”¦ formally known as a yellow VW Bug and he is a beloved character by kids all over the world. We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters. We are in a process of building the brand equity around the Comic Book Business, our TV Business, our Digital Gaming Business, and adding to that our new movie business of Transformers”.

As you can see, Goldner never says that we are getting a Bumblebee spinoff, but an emphasis on increasing the character’s brand is taking precedence. Having a spinoff movie would certainly help build Bumblebee as a brand.

The plan is to have another sequel directed by Bay. Once that goal is reached, Paramount and the Transformers story trust would work on building their shared universe with more spinoffs and sequels.

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim 2“˜s Zak Penn, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Lost“˜s Jeff Pinkner, and Ant-Man co-writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari form the current Transformers story trust.
