Warner Bros. has just revealed the first synopsis for Zack Snyder‘s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it is pretty much everything we expected it to be.
Though it is a very brief look into the film, it hints at why these two heroes will go at it, and how another threat may forced to put the feuding heroes’ differences aside to save the world from an impending doom. Check out the synopsis below.
Here it is, the first synopsis for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
We pretty much knew that Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck) would be fighting an epic death match, since it is in the title and Batman threatened to make Superman bleed in the first trailer. Batman and Superman have always been at odds, with Batman making contingencies to be sure he would be able to take Superman down should that time come, usually it is in the form of some Kryptonite weapon. No we don’t know if he has access to kypronite yet or if it has found its way to Earth since the events of Man of Steel. But the massive destruction seen in Man of Steel acts as a lead-in for the upcoming film.
Now the “new threat” that “quickly arises” could be the event that brings heroes like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) to help Batman and Superman save the day. But who is behind this threat? Odds are it is Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). There are rumors that Luthor has obtained General Zod’s body and is gathering pieces of the World Engine to synthesize Kryponite. However there is nothing to confirm this. Or could the threat be something else entirely?
Also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Tao Okamoto, Scoot McNairy, and more, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
