Chris Pratt Signed On For ‘Jurassic World’ Sequels
  |  @   |

There was no doubt that Jurassic World would be the number one film at the box office last weekend, and according to Box Office Mojo, it performed beyond experts’ expectations by earning $204 million domestically, and $511 million worldwide. So per the norm, Universal Pictures will green light sequels.

We know that director Colin Treverrow won’t be coming back for seconds, but he will be involved in some sort of capacity. But it looks like there is one person who is staying, and that person is star Chris Pratt.

Pratt revealed in an interview that he is indeed signed on for more Jurassic films, which means we will get to see more of Owen Grady being a badass.

In an interview with EW, Pratt revealed:

“I am. They have me for I think 38 movies or something.”

I think that may be 36 movies too many, but hey, at least now we know that he is signed on for more. But it is unclear where the sequel could go at this point. Here’s what Trevorrow told us about the future of the franchise:

“I do think, and this is just my honest answer, that this franchise that would be one that is best served more under the model with what Mission: Impossible has done with different directors bringing in new visions to something, that is in danger of something that has become repetitive.”

Spoiler alert: Vic Hoskins (Vincent D’Onofrio) had a secret deal with Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong), that would help revolutionize modern warfare by weaponizing the raptors that were being trained by Owen. Of course things don’t end up going as planned with Hoskins being eaten by the raptors, but Wu made it off Jurassic World before the entire park was taken over by the dinosaurs.

The sequels could focus on him continuing his nefarious research by creating hybrid dinosaurs. Or it could focus on getting the park back in control of the humans. But the title of the film may give us a clue as to what the sequel could be about. Much like how Disney World has multiple theme parks not only in Florida, but across the globe, there in fact could be more Jurassic Parks around the world as well. Remember the Masrani Corporation is a large conglomerate that, according to the film, invests in commercial and industrial sectors and services spanning telecommunications, oil production, biological engineering, and construction. It being such a successful corporation, and helping relaunch Jurassic World by purchasing InGen, it only makes sense for the park to expand. Of course this is all just speculation, and we won’t know anything about the sequels until at least the DVD/Blu-ray release.

Where do you think the franchise should go after Jurassic World?
