First Poster For Michael Dougherty’s Holiday Horror ‘Krampus’ Debuts

From the man who co-wrote two of the X-Men movies and wrote the classic Halloween horror anthology feature Trick ‘r Treat, Michael Dougherty‘s Christmas-themed fright flick Krampus now has an official poster that was unveiled over the weekend at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

You can check it out here below.

A co-production of Legendary Pictures and their new studio backer Universal Pictures, Krampus stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, David Koechner, and Conchata Ferrell in a tale about Santa Claus’ terrifying opposite in Alpine folklore, a monstrous demon who punishes the wicked children at Christmastime. Dougherty directed and also co-wrote the screenplay with Todd Casey (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights) and Zach Shields.

The image of a clawed hand clutching a snow globe that contains a rather peaceful-looking town is a chilling one and strongly reminiscent of the great horror movie posters of the 70s and 80s. Adding artificial creases to the poster was a nice touch.

Legendary Pictures’ Krampus, a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday.

When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

Krampus opens in theaters on December 4, 2015.
