The third entry of Machinima’s YouTube series Real Fake History tackles one of television’s most thrilling shows, Game of Thrones. Real Fake History treats film and TV’s biggest battles and fights as the History Channel would treat war footage, with stock footage from the source materials and “interviews” with characters who lived the tale. Long before Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) was Caesar’ed by the Night’s Watch to conclude season 5, he first betrayed the Wildlings and helped lead the Battle at Castle Black against Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds) and a massive wildling army that included giants.

As usual, narrator Phil Morris introduces our “history” and discusses the role of leadership in warfare. Snow’s report of a 100,000 strong army charging the wall were met with a mixed opinion by the higher ups in the Watch. We then get a sit down interview with… one of the giants! His name is Bu Won Dun Bu Way (which for the very Lord of the Rings-like Game of Thrones is not exactly a stretch). He says the giants were tricked by the wildlings into battle with promises of food, in particular, cake.

“Giants told there was cake inside wall,” he says.

Bu Won (Dave Mattey) makes it clear that giants are usually peaceful, but will kill if annoyed. “No cake annoys me.” Unfortunately, the conversation gets to him and when he presses the interviewer for his beloved cake, it doesn’t end well. They also preview the love story between Jon Snow and Ygritte (Rose Leslie), and who can blame her really? I mean… him”¦
