Possible Reboot Of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ For NBC
  |  @   |

In the world of reboots, another commercial and cult fave, Xena: Warrior Princess may get its day on NBC. The show, which ran 6 seasons from 1995-2001, was a spinoff of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys with Kevin Sorbo. Lucy Lawless played the fierce Amazonian main character who was on a mission for redemption, traveling to lend her sword for good. Now, original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are reported to be looking for a scribe.

More on the story below.

It is not clear if the revival, eyed for a 2016 release, will be a limited series return, or a complete new series run. Tapert, Raimi, and Lawless are busy these days with the Ash Vs Evil Dead series coming to Starz October 31st, 2015. If you remember, Bruce Campbell also has Xena experience, having had appeared in 9-episodes of Xena as Autolycus. Also not yet clear, is what role Lawless will play in the reboot, and if she will get a behind the scenes part as well.

NBC has 2 more reboot series in development: Heroes Reborn is set to return to NBC on Thursday, September 24th, and Coach, a sequel to the 1990s original television series starring Craig T. Nelson (Nelson will also be in this one) is in the works.

Lawless has been very vocal about wanting Xena back on the airwaves, and it looks like NBC has heard her loud and clear.

I know I’m looking forward to it. We will keep you updated as more Xena: Warrior Princess news develops.
