A common staple of the long-running James Bond franchise is the Bond girl. There is no set number on how many Bond girls can appear in one film or set rules on the role she will play in the film. The character can be either an ally or an enemy, a pivotal character to Bond’s mission, or just simply eye candy.
For the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre, there will be four Bond girls. Lea Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Revolutions, Shoot ‘Em Up), and Stephanie Sigman (Netflix’s Narcos, FX’s The Bridge) will play new characters in the film, while Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) will reprise her role as Moneypenny, a role she first played in Skyfall.
Now Sony Pictures and EON Productions has released four brand new images and shared character descriptions for the four Bond girls that will appear in Spectre, which you can check out below.

Seydoux plays Madeline Swann, and describes her character as a “doctor daughter of an assassin,” who first “comes into contact with Bond at her Austrian clinic, and while there is a spark between them, their first meeting is abrupt, to say the least.”
Bellucci’s character is the widow of a murdered mafioso. According to the actress, the character “comes from a man’s world.” She adds “But when the attraction between them takes place and she realizes her feminine power on him, then she trusts him to save her.”
As aforementioned, Naomie Harris reprises her role as Moneypenny. After shooting Bond in Skyfall, Harris says Moneypenny was forced to “reassess what she was doing as a profession and what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.” The events lead to her decision to support Bond and MI6 in a new capacity. “There’s a maturity in that decision and a groundedness you see with her,” says Harris.
Finally, Sigman has been “sworn to secrecy about pretty much everything involving her character, including her last name.” However, the actress sees a lot of herself in Estrella. “She’s a lot like me,” the actress said. “We like to have fun and we’re joyful people. I found her really easy to play and go with the flow and just be me.”
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
