‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ ‘Mad Max Anthology’ Box Set Coming To Blu-ray In September
  |

George Miller‘s long-overdue (as in three decades overdue) post-apocalyptic adventure sequel Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the best movies of the summer, if not the year (read Adam Frazier’s review here). After raking in over $360 million in grosses at the global box office, the relentless chase thriller starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron is coming to home video in less than two months from now.

On September 1, 2015, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Fury Road is separate 2D Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD editions. DVD copies will also be included with both Blu-ray sets, and all editions will come with bonus Ultraviolent download codes.

Also being possibly released that same day (though it has yet to be confirmed) is the 4-disc Mad Max Anthology Blu-ray box set, which will include all four films in the series: Mad Max, The Road Warrior, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Special features on both Blu-ray editions of Fury Road will include:

Maximum Fury: Filming Fury Road
Mad Max: Fury on Four Wheels
The Road Warriors: Max and Furiosa
The Tools of the Wasteland
The Five Wives: So Shiny, So Chrome
Fury Road: Crash & Smash
Deleted Scenes

Miller had hoped to include a black & white version of the film as a bonus feature, but that no longer appears to be a reality. Shame about that.

Mad Max: Fury Road will be available for sale beginning September 1, 2015.

  1. With more sequels coming, what’s the incentive to purchase an anthology set now?

  2. A sequel is still not a guarantee by a long shot. The movie did well, but not well enough that the studio has forgotten the 2 or 3 failed (and expensive) production attempts on this movie, the 12 months of filming, or the 2 years of post-production. Miller has a sequel written and ready to go, but Warner Brothers is waiting to see how the video game and BluRay sales go, as well as if the movie gets any Oscars, before deciding on whether or not to green light “The Wastelands”.

  3. You may be right that a sequel is not guaranteed but Fury Road has a lot working in it’s favor. Among other things, it’s grossed something like $350M worldwide even without Blu-Ray, DVD or On Demand sales. For a franchise that hasn’t seen any new entries in nearly 2 decades, this one hit all the marks and was well liked by both critics and movie goers, something that doesn’t seem to happen very often. Personally, Fury Road is up there as one of movies I enjoyed most this year. I’d be surprised if a sequel isn’t green-lit by the end of the year.
