SYTYCD: Celebrating A Decade Of Dance (Video)
  |  @   |

Last night, So You Think You Can Dance celebrated bringing 10 years of joy to America. I have been watching the show since I first found out about it, at the beginning of season 2, and one thing I know… people who love it like I do, can reminisce about their favorite pieces. SYTYCD had the All-Stars come back and recreate some of those faves.

Enjoy some of the breathtaking dances from last night, some bonus videos, and the beautiful image gallery below.

Nigel Lythgoe picked this Emmy-winning perennial favorite called “The Bench” by Mia Michaels, originally danced by Travis Wall and Heidi Groskreutz in season 2, Kathryn McCormick stepped in for this rendition. Still lovely.

These two strong women are gorgeous and chock full of talent. Jasmine Harper dances for Beyonce, while Comfort Fedoke dances for Missy Elliot. Combine these forces with my favorite hip-hop choreographers, Napoleon & Tabitha D’umo, and it’s just pure entertainment. Michelle Obama and Jason Derulo picked this as their favorite routine.

Paula Abdul chose this beautiful piece choreographed by Wade Robson, that mixed Hok Konishi‘s crazy hip-hop talent with Jaime Goodwin‘s contemporary beauty, to create a jazz masterpiece. The way he used the dual melodies with these dancers, deserved all the accolades it got.

Cat Deeley picked his quirky off-beat piece that was just the right vehicle for quirky offbeat Mark Kanemura. As it should be since he choreographed it to dance with Jenna Johnson. Nicknamed the hair dance (I think only by me), it caught the judges eye immediately. I think it caught Lady Gaga’s eye too, because Mark is now one of her backup dancers.

This dance was chosen by the viewers at home as the runner-up to fan favorite. Allison Holker and Robert Roldan made us feel what they were feeling in this beautiful dance choreographed by Travis Wall in season 7.

America’s fan favorite is one of my favorite’s too. Alex Wong had gotten hurt during season 7 of SYTYCD. Season 8, Ellen Degeneres (who is known for her love of dance), spoofed that dance with tWitch, because she adored it so much. We understand, Ellen.
