Chris Pine Confirmed For ‘Wonder Woman’
  |  @   |

Despite rumors that he was attached to star in The Green Lantern Corps, Chris Pine has been confirmed to star opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman. The actor was in negotiations to have a role in the film earlier this summer.

While the film has had its ups and downs in the past, the casting is a huge step forward. More on the story below.

As previously reported Pine will play Steve Trevor, who is a love interest to Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. The Wrap adds that he will also be involved in much of the action so that he isn’t relegated to being just the film’s “love interest.” However, plot details are currently being kept under wraps.

Rumors say that the film could take place in 1920s with Diana exploring the world of Man, which would then be followed up with a sequel taking place during World War II, with a film set in modern times closing out the trilogy. Though if the script were to stay true to the comic book origins, the film would start during World War II. But that all remains to be seen. As we have all seen before, plans can change, and Trevor might end up being recruited to the Green Lantern Corps, where he might join Tyrese Gibson. Again, that is all just speculation.

Scott Eastwood was also up for the role when the character was rumored to be in Suicide Squad. Though we know that isn’t the case now that Pine is confirmed to play Trevor.

In the comics, Trevor is a World War II fighter pilot who crash lands on Paradise Island. He is nursed back to health by the Amazon princess Wonder Woman, who eventually came to love him, and followed him back to Earth.

Patty Jenkins is directing Wonder Woman, using a script written by Jason Fuchs (Pan). Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder will producer.

Pine is currently filming Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond over at Paramount, and has a guest starring role in Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. He also stars in the Sundance Film Festival hit Z For Zachariah, and can next be seen in Disney’s coast guard drama The Finest Hours, which hits theaters January of next year.

Gadot’s Wonder Woman will make her big screen debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016, with her solo debut as the title hero opening June 23, 2017.
