‘Mafia III’ Officially Confirmed; Trailer Coming Next Week
  |  @   |

We all have a nice list of games from the last console generation that stood out as our favorites, that we enjoyed playing more than all of the others. One of the games on my own personal list, is Mafia II.

It might not be considered a great game, and it does have its fair share of flaws, but there’s plenty of things about it that I really loved. And it wasn’t the mafia stuff, the running around and shooting and such (though that was plenty of fun as well). It was the setting, being able to hang out in the 1940s and ’50s, driving old cars around, and of course, listening to the many great old songs on the radio as you drove. A good example of this was early in the game, after you’ve returned home from World War II, when you’re simply walking home at night while it snows lightly (seen in the video below). I was won over early.

There have been whispers of a third game in the series here and there since the last one was released in 2010, and today it has been confirmed: Mafia III is on the way.

The game was confirmed on the official social media accounts, as can be seen below, and it was also revealed that the first trailer will be released next week during Gamescom 2015.

Now the big question marks are when will the game be set and where? Judging by this teaser image, it looks like it could be a ’60s and/or ’70s game, which would make sense. I’m hoping it starts where Mafia II left off in the ’50s and then moves into the ’60s, but we shall see soon enough. We also have to wonder whether they’ve been working on it for a while already and it will be out in the next year or two, or if they just got started on it recently.

If you’ve never played it, you can grab Mafia II right here.

What are you hoping to see in Mafia III?
