Before its first 6-episode season has even begun, when all we see are snapshots and quickie trailers, Robert Kirkman‘s prequel to his wildly successful The Walking Dead, has been confirmed for a second season. That’s right. Fear The Walking Dead, will return for a 15-episode season 2 in 2016.

Starring Kim Dickens, Rubén Blades, Cliff Curtis, Mercedes Mason, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Frank Dillane, it tells the story of the outbreak of the now familiar zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead, and centers on how a family struggles to cope amidst this horror. This show is set in Los Angeles], and we’ve been privy to the grittier feel this urban setting provides the new series.

With Robert Kirkman overseeing this one, we know it is sure to terrify and delight us as its sister show.

Season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead begins Sunday, August 23rd on AMC, and leads into the season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday, August 11th, also on AMC.
