Last week, Relativity was forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy after being hit with lawsuits and missing numerous payments. The studio was forced to lay off 75 of its 350 employees on staff, and now their troubles are leaking over to their films. Though they will release Masterminds and Kidnap, the future of their other films in pre-production is unknown, and will most likely be put on hold or sold to other studios and producers, until Relativity can figure a way out of their mess. One of the biggest films that was in pre-production was experiencing a bit of trouble itself. According to new reports, pre-production on The Crow reboot is now stalled.

THR was the first to confirm the story. A close source to the project tells the site that the “entire production team had left the project,” including “several other” heads of departments. They add that an official statement will be released soon.

The Crow reboot was not without its share of problems. One of the biggest concerns was getting an actor to board the project. Luke Evans was attached to the film, but had to exit the project due to other commitments and the reboot’s lack of development. Boardwalk Empire‘s Jack Huston then signed on to play the title role, but quit the film due to mysterious circumstances.

The reboot was also forced to find a replacement for F. Javier Gutierrez, who had left the project to go work on the remake of The Ring series. Eventually, Relativity settled on Corin Hardy. No word yet on if he will stay on the project or not.

Before Relativity filed for Chapter 11 last week, the studio had hoped that The Crow reboot could go into production this fall. It is unknown if they will hold on to the title, or if they will let the rights expire for another studio to claim.

To protect the company, Relativity has already sold the rights to some of its other films, which includes teen romance Out of This World starring Asa Butterfield as a boy raised on Mars, to STX Entertainment. Jennifer Garner-starring YA adaptation The Tribes of Palos Verdes was sold back to the movie’s producers. Though The Crow has a fan base, it really isn’t as lucrative as some might think. In the wake of studios snatching up comic book properties, it may be in Relativity’s best interest to find a buyer willing to take The Crow reboot off their hands.
