“It is with considerable difficulty that I remember the original era of my being”¦”

Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

This is the line that intros the official trailer of the FOX series Lookinglass, due out in 2016. Lookinglass is a sci-fi show with horror and action undertones, about sibling geniuses who create the titular company. Mary (Dilshad Vadsaria) is dying of a rare form of cancer and needs a 1 in 10-million donor… which brings us to Jimmy (Philip Baker Hall). Jimmy Pritchard stumbles into a break in at his son’s house and is unceremoniously tossed off a bridge to his death… or so he thought.

Watch the trailer below.

“What we’re about to do should be left to God,” says Mary. The show, originally titled “The Frankenstein Code” borrows more than the name of its author. At Lookinglass they are able to bring Jimmy back from death but into a new form (Rob Kazinsky). The purpose of this is for him to save Mary, but retaining his memories of his former life, as older Jimmy focuses him on the goal of avenging his murder and saving his son. The “creation” of course appears to have superhuman strength, increased intelligence, and apparently a young man’s libido.

“Second chances can be a monster.” I get it! Lookinglass is written by successful TV pros Rand Ravich (Life, Crisis), and multiple time Emmy winner Howard Gordon (24, Homeland). The show will join a growing list of sci-fi/horror themed shows on TV, as it appears another monster can be checked off TV’s list with this Frankenstein-esque show. MTV’s got Teen Wolf for werewolves and wolfmen, and there are plenty of Vampires and Zombies to go around between Vampire Diaries, iZombie (The CW), and The Walking Dead (AMC). FOX themselves will be premiering horror/comedy Scream Queens and sci-fi Minority Report this fall.

Welcome to LOOKINGLASS, a thrilling new action-drama about a man brought back to life by two scientists playing god in the quest to save one of their own lives.
