‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ May Have More Dark Knight Than Man Of Steel

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

It was only a matter of time before these superhero films started focusing on title heroes facing off against one another instead of the generic villain. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be one of the first films to use that concept for the big screen.

Ben Affleck plays the current iteration of the Dark Knight, who is said to be “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for a while.” The actor recently signed on to write and direct the first of a trilogy of Batman films that doesn’t include the quasi-Man of Steel sequel – to which WB still has to figure out if Man of Steel 2 will actually be released. Following the huge success of The Dark Knight trilogy, fans are just itching to see what Affleck does in this film, and based on a rumored screening reaction, it looks like WB may want director Zack Snyder to have Batman v Superman focus more on the Dark Knight than the Man of Steel. More on the story below.

Heroic Hollywood’s latest rumor says that “Ben Affleck’s Batman is so good that he is blowing Henry Cavill’s Superman right off the screen.” Though Man of Steel was a hit from a box office standpoint, it wasn’t very well received by critics, so when you pair Affleck opposite Cavill, the statement isn’t all that surprising. But exactly how much more Batman WB wants to see is still unknown. The amount could have an effect on the films dynamic and even the dichotomy of the two heroes that will be facing off against each other for the first time on the big screen.

We also have to take into consideration what Affleck has done for the studio. The actor has given WB multiple Oscars thanks to his directorial effort Argo. Then there are a couple more films that are under the WB banner that could have Oscar potential – both have been pushed back to a later date by the studio.

However, Cavill’s recent WB effort The Man From U.N.C.L.E. failed to create some traction, and didn’t do much for WB. That may not be entirely the actor’s fault, but if the rumors are true, it’s abundantly clear who the studio favors.

Again, this is merely just a rumor, so take the report with a grain of salt.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, and Jason Momoa. It is directed by Zack Snyder, and written by Chris Terrio, based on a story by David Goyer. The film opens in theaters on March 26, 2016.

Fearing the actions of a god-like superhero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
