‘Preacher’ Coming To AMC In 2016; First Poster Released
  |  @   |

For those of you anxiously awaiting word on when you might see the Preacher TV series, get those calendars and a marker ready. The status of the show last we knew was that AMC had ordered a pilot episode, and the cast was put together to film that first episode in hopes of it winning a full series order from AMC. Now it appears that order has been made.

Seth Rogen, who is writing and executive producing the show with his This Is the End and The Interview co-writer and co-director Evan Goldberg, tweeted out that Preacher is coming to AMC in May of next year. He also shared the first poster for the series, which you can check out below. Unfortunately he deleted the tweet quickly and then sent out a new one simply saying “Preacher is coming to AMC!” so it’s unknown whether the May of 2016 part was incorrect or he wasn’t supposed to say anything yet. But either way, it looks like the show is real and you will get to see it.

Here’s the second tweet from Rogen:

Breaking Bad writer, director, and producer Sam Catlin is set to be the showrunner on Preacher.

The cast includes Iron Man’s father, Captain America: The First Avenger star Dominic Cooper, who is set to play the lead role of Reverend Jesse Custer; Joseph Gilgun, who will be playing the Irish vampire named Cassidy; Ruth Negga, who plays Custer’s ex-girlfriend and current companion Tulip O’Hare; and Ian Colletti, who has the distinct honor of playing the character named Arseface.

Before tweeting out the announcement, Rogen also shared the Willie Nelson song “Time of the Preacher,” which is also included below.
