Watch Someone Beat Hardest ‘Super Mario’ Level Ever Created After 9 Hours Of Trying (Video)
  |  @   |

The much-anticipated Super Mario Maker game has now officially been released on Nintendo’s Wii U, and it offers players the chance to create their own levels.

When making regular Mario games, they have to remain accessible to even casual players or not nearly as many people would want to play. With Mario Maker most rules go out the window, so naturally some absolutely diabolical creations were going to appear. But one of the genius things about the game is that you can’t just mash together a bunch of nonsense no one can complete and upload it as a level; instead the creator must beat their level to prove it functions in order to successfully upload it for others to attempt.

The game has only been out a couple of weeks, but already some purely evil levels have been uploaded. One such level, dubbed the “hardest Super Mario Maker level ever made,” has been uploaded, and it took the creator just 9 hours to beat it and get it uploaded. You can see their successful run in the video below.

The level, which is called “Pit of Panga: P-Break,” was created by renowned Mario gamer PangaeaPanga, who created the level four hours faster than it took him to defeat it. This is just the latest and most difficult level created by Panga, whose previous creations also includes “Bomb Voyage,” which took a combined 11,000 global attempts before someone finally conquered it. The levels can shorten lifespans, but beating one can be a very exciting accomplishment for players.

You might be thinking this PangaeaPanga is some mysterious old seasoned Nintendo gamer, but this is not the case. Not even close. He’s actually a high school kid who’s primarily a Super Mario World hacker and tool-assisted speedrunner.

Some fun facts about him from his Twitch page: He’s a Division 1 cross country track and field athlete who holds his school record in the 800 and 1000 meter, with a fastest mile of a little over four minutes. His fastest 3x3x3 Rubix Cube was slightly over 24 seconds using the Fridrich method. He plays guitar, trumpet, and also piano. And he enjoys the occasional basketball trick shot, as well.

So what have you accomplished lately? I made myself a sammich last night. Had pickles on it and everything.

If he really wants to impress me, though, beat a video game while blindfolded! Haha! Take tha…oh, he did that too? Well shit.
