NYCC 2015: Game of Thrones

Cast members from HBO’s highly popular television series Game Of Thrones made an appearance on Thursday at New York Comic-Con, and answered fan questions during an audience Q&A At the panel were Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell, Queen to King Tommen Baratheon of King’s Landing; Finn Jones, who plays Ser Loras Tyrell, The Knight of Flowers, and Margaery’s brother; Keisha Castle-Hughes, who plays Obara Sand, bastard daughter of Oberyn Martell and one of the Sand Snakes who wants revenge of the Lannisters.

Check out the details here below of the moderated panel along with the audience Q&A, along with our photos of the stars.

Moderated Panel:

Q- Who breaks character?
Dormer: All of us.

Q- Who is the biggest superfan?
Castle-Hughes: We all kind of have the same excitable energy.
Finn: Pedro [Pascal, who played Prince Pedro Pascal Oberyn Martell] was a superfan and geeking out. He’s super sweet. He’s great on Narcos.

Q- How are the fans?
Jones: Different cultures approach you in different ways. The Spanish are huggy.
Dormer: British, we’re very oppressed. Americans are very cool. American creators of the show.

Q- Jon Snow?
All: He’s dead. He’s gone.

Q- What do you think makes Margaery such a threat to Cersei?
Dormer: What a massive compliment that you think she’s a threat. Because Margaery is trying to be Cersei – the mother of the king. She’s as talented at the machinations as Cersei is, and cersei knows that. But they’ve got new problems next season.

Q- Why do you think Margaery will be good on the Iron Throne?
Dormer: I don’t think she wants to be on the Iron Throne. I thinks she wants to be the power behind it. She’s on the third one [third husband who’s a king]. It’s safer to be the power behind the throne.

Q- Finn, You were in jail. Should we be worried?
Jones: Yes. you should be very worried.

Q- How has the LGBT community been to you?
Jones: I mean, are we still worrying about who loves who? I mean come on. We have bigger problems.

Q- What has been the hardest scene? Obviously, Shireen and the red wedding.

Castle-Hughes: Pedro dying. Intense emotional reaction. When you come on the show, you can’t tell anyone. My roommate was like dude! It’s just a show!

Dormer: Pedro wouldn’t let anyone do that scene.

Q- How long did you have to train?
Castle-Hughes: 5 1/2 months of working together. The Sands, they fight as a unit, which brings a whole bunch of scary elements.

Q- If there was one character you could resurrect, who would it be?
Jones: [to audience] On 3. 3-2-1
Audience: “Ned!” [Ned Stark, killed in Season 1]
Castle-Hughes: Catelyn [Ned’s wife]
Jones: We’re missing that motherly piece.

Q-Spoilers?
Castle-Hughes: I’m back.
Jones: I can’t say anything.

Q-What’s it like on set in between takes? Do you go back to your trailers or hang?
Dormer: We all hang. Finn is a voracious reader. He reads everything.

Audience Q&A:

A-The rest of the storylines are all very female (except Jon Snow). Is that intentional?
Finn: That’s a strong point there. Great testament to the show. It’s not misogynistic.

A- Is there a costume you really wanted to steal?
Jones: The Tyrells are really lucky.
Dormer: [to Jones] You always look so handsome on your doublet and men in boots are kind of sexy.
Jones: The Tyrells don’t get much in terms of costumes next season.
Dormer: A sack.

A- What has been your favorite place to travel and where else would you want to go?
Dormer: I was upset that I didn’t get to go to Iceland, the Aurora lights. And John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly, was like, it’s all right. Like it’s no big deal.

A- Who do you wish your character could meet?
Jones: Loras would probably try to turn Jon Snow gay. And share hair tips. I’d teach him a thing or two.
Castle: I would like her to team up with Arya [Stark].
Jones: [to Castle-Hughes] You would teach each other some stuff.
Dormer: I miss Sophie [Turner, who plays Sansa]. I miss Sansa. I think Margaery could have helped her sort out Ramsey [Sansa’s sadist husband]. Drink this. [Audience laughs]

A- If Margaery could bring back one character to get the power behind the throne, who would it be?
Dormer: Who do you think?
Audience: “Ned!”

A- [To Dormer] Have you noticed that you have an uncanny resemblance to Kermit the Frog’s new girlfriend.
Dormer: I had dinner with David and Dan [GoT showrunners] when I was shooting in Spain. I think it might have been season 3 or season 4. I was telling Sansa I’m not perfect because I have a piggy nose. So I asked if they could please put in there a line with a piggy nose. It would be like sticking two fingers at the bullies of my childhood. And they put it in for me. So when I saw Kermit had a new girlfriend, I thought maybe I was responsible for that. I can’t really argue with that.

A- When you first get a script and there’s a nude scene?
Castle-Hughes: As long as it helps the scene and it’s not gratuitous. It depends on the work and the people you are doing it with.
Jones: Game Of Thrones is a safe environment. I’ve always felt really comfortable.

A- [to Dormer] You played Anne Boleyn on The Tudors. Did you take some of that for Margaery.
Dormer: I was worried. When I knew there was an audition, and I will never say what it is until the season is over. Dan and David said we want you to play Margaery. But you guys, the fans, said don’t worry. I think of Anne as fire, and I think of Margaery as ice. Anne Boleyn would not have been able to keep her calm the way Margaery has.

Game Of Thrones returns with Season 6 on HBO next April, while Game of Thrones: Season 5 Blu-ray Edition will be released on March 15, 2016 and is available for pre-order now.
