NYCC 2015: ‘The Shannara Chronicles’ Official Trailer

Fans were formally introduced to MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles in a panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday. The official trailer was shown to the audience by author Terry Brooks (writer of the bestselling novels on which the show is based), and executive producers Al Gough, Jonathan Liebesman, and Miles Millar. Not present were executive producers Jon Favreau and Dan Farah.

MTV describes Shannara as a post-apocalyptic fantasy “set thousands of years after the destruction of civilization.” Elven Princess Amberle, half-elf Wil, and human Eretria “embark on a quest to stop a Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.”

The Shannara Chronicles stars Poppy Drayton (Unhallowed Ground) as Amberle Elessedil, Austin Butler (Arrow, The Carrie Diaries) as Wil Ohmsford, Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth) as Eretria, Manu Bennett (Arrow) as Allanon, and John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings, Raiders of the Lost Ark) as Elf King Evantine Elessedil.

The Shannara Chronicles will have a special, 2-hour premiere on MTV on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT immediately following the return of MTV’s Teen Wolf at 9pm ET/PT.

Coming to MTV in January 2016, “˜The Shannara Chronicles’ is a new TV series based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. Set thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization, the story follows an Elven Princess, Amberle, a half-human half-elf, Wil, and a human, Eretria, as they embark on a quest to stop a Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.

“˜The Shannara Chronicles’ stars Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davies. The series is executive produced by Jon Favreau, Al Gough, Miles Millar, Dan Farah, Jonathan Liebesman and author Terry Brooks.
