Last week on iZombie, Liv ate the brains of a party hard frat boy, and boy… did she jump right in! The case had a same name twist. The victim was innocent – murdered because of mistaken identity. And the killer was super remorseful. We know the cases are just the frame for Rose McIver to showcase her versatility. Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) thought she was a crazy person as usual, but didn’t investigate it further than that. Hello? Detective! Ravi and Major (Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley) go to a club so Ravi can “investigate” the effects of Utopium. Major joins in and passes out, so Liv rescues him. They share a sweet moment, but Major is so messed up, he pushes her away again and takes more drugs alone in his room. He is having a really hard time with the guilt of killing zombies, now that he knows some are good.

Spoilers below.

iZombie 2.3 “Real Dead Housewife of Seattle” review: Liv’s brain is fun this week! And bitchy, and privileged, and very well dressed (unlike the crime scene tape dress from last week, which I loved).

The theme of the week (and every week) is loneliness. Major is still taking zombies out as per Vaughn Du Clark’s (Steven Weber) orders, and working out his pecs, and working Gilda (Leanne Lapp) out to cure his pain. I said last week I hoped she turned out to be a good girl, but she isn’t headed that way now. Girl code, sister! You know that’s her ex! I know you are part of an evil plot and daughter (yes daughter) of a human monster, but still. You should not go there!

Nobody remembers Liv’s birthday, except Peyton (Aly Michalka). Yes, remember Peyton? She ran away from zombie Liv, but is back, and more relevant now, as assistant DA and hugger of Ravi. Liv is so desperate for a friend, she befriends the murderous stylist of the victim’s husband. She discovers this in the middle of girl bonding aka shopping.

What I really really liked about this episode, is that although I joke that the murders are secondary to the story, this week’s murder connected to the bigger picture – Max Rager. It also gave Vaughn a reason to show off his pet zombie doctor in the basement. he really is worse than the zombies. I love Steven Weber in everything, but I hope the writers plan a spectacularly gruesome death for this venemous villain.

Um… I said there should be more Blaine, not no Blaine.

iZombie airs Tuesday nights at 9pm ET on The CW.
