Previously, on Heroes Reborn, Tommy (Robbie Kay) was finally told about his destiny by his mom and the penny hypnotist, which he predictably rejects. Luke (Zachary Levi) burns his house down, destroying his past with Joanna and his son. Miko and Ren (Kiki Sukezane and Toru Uchikado) sneak into Renautas via cosplayers, and retrieve the sword. Noah, Quentin, and Taylor (Jack Coleman, Henry Zebrowski, and Eve Harlow) make it inside as well, and find Molly (Francesca Eastwood), but she offs herself to stop EPIC. I actually don’t blame her. Erica Hitler, I mean Kravid (Rya Kihlstedt) moves forward with her global annihilation plan. They find human seeds to rebuild humanity. Malina (Danika Yarosh) has to forge on ahead – alone.

Some spoilers below.

Heroes Reborn 1.6 “Game Over” review: Torturing for info is how people do things in this world. Noah is drowning one of Harris’s (Clé Bennett) clones, and Carlos (Ryan Guzman) beats on Dearing (Dylan Bruce) on where his nephew and the priest were taken. He is easily fooled and overtaken. You don’t take drugs from your hostage! That’s Hostage 101, dude!

Miko is inside the game looking for her dad, but the fortress is gone. Looks like they have to enter from the real world. Miko and Ren use the Han and Leia lines:

Ren: “I love you.”
Miko: “I know.”

Luke runs into Malina. She spies him jumping into a lake to kill himself, and saves him with her power. She thinks it’s destiny, especially when she opens the bloody envelope, to find a picture of Tommy, and Luke recognizes him. They are going to “save the world.”

Tommy takes Emily to Paris. I want that power. It’s his last hurrah before he embraces his destiny. They remove the tracker, and find a 9th Wonders comic.

They finally find Phoebe, but she is darkness. I did not recognize that that was her in a previous episode. Quentin is so happy, but stressed now that she is on the dark side, literally.

We had to say goodbye to one of my favorite characters on the show. He will be missed. Another character sacrifices himself/herself (not telling you!) as well.

And… the scene freezes in nostalgic familiarity, as Hiro Nakamura is rescued and now has to rescue. The reunion we have been waiting for arrives.

They go back to Odessa – June 13th, 2014.

So out of all the powers, although I would like to have Hiro’s because going back and forth in time would be the best thing ever, I would probably mess stuff up. So I think I would like Tommy’s power. I could travel without having to get on a plane (deathly afraid), and I can take people with me. Although cloning myself would be nice too. Me and my 6 other Mes could get a lot of work done.

This episode was better than the previous few. We will get a chance to get the missing pieces of memory – key to understanding what the hell happened in Odessa. The series feels like it might be falling into the trap that doomed the original towards the end. Let’s hope everything ties together as the mystery unfolds.

Heroes Reborn airs Thursday nights at 8pm ET on NBC.

  1. Tired of this show now. I was interested at first but it follows the “never ending tease” model of the previous Heroes and other frustrating let-downs of the past like Lost. I am not a fan.
