‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Gets A Season 2 From Starz

Fans of The Evil Dead series were elated at the announcement that Bruce Campbell would be reprising his role as Ash for a new TV series on Starz titled Ash vs Evil Dead with director Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tapert also on board. The 10-episode season of 30-minute episodes meant that, after getting a little over four hours of Evil Dead goodness—not counting the ooey, gooey, and gory but Ash-less reboot a couple of years back—in the past 34 years, five new hours would be arriving in the span of just a couple of months beginning with the premiere episode on Halloween night.

Now fans have something to be even more excited about. Three days before Ash vs Evil Dead even premieres, Starz has already officially greenlighted a season two.

Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik said of the announcement:

“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two-decade-long appetite for more Ash. The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story, have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with Season 1.”

As for who will return for the second season, we know Campbell will be back to star and also produce along with Raimi and Tapert, and Craig DiGregorio will also return as showrunner. As for other characters who might return, let’s wait and see how season one plays out first.

Raimi, in addition to producing, directed all three of the original movies and also directed the pilot episode set to air on Halloween night. There’s a chance he could direct at least an episode of season two as well, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.

Also not confirmed yet is a premiere date for season two, but it sounds like Ash vs Evil Dead will return in late 2016, which would make the most sense. The sophomore effort is said to likely run at least 10 episodes, perhaps more.
