Mark Ruffalo Believes ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Will Be A Buddy Movie
  |  @   |

The Hulk will finally make an appearance outside of The Avengers films in Thor: Ragnarok. The film is said to see Hulk and Thor set out on a cosmic journey that does not take place on Earth or Asgard. It is rumored that the film could introduce the “Planet Hulk” storyline and the Valkyries, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Mark Ruffalo, who recently finalized his deal to appear in the last film of the Thor trilogy, expressed his interest in seeing the relationship between Bruce Banner and Hulk. Now while on his Spotlight press tour, the actor is talking a little bit more about Thor: Ragnarok. According to him, it will be a buddy film with fights in it. Sounds like the makings of another Marvel buddy cop film except now its with demi-gods and monsters. More on the story below.

In an interview with the NY Daily News, Ruffalo talked a little bit about what he thinks we might see in the Thor: Ragnarok:

“I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner.”

He then spoke about the possibility of a few throwdowns between the him and his co-star Chris Hemsworth:

“I think they’ll probably fight,” the 47-year-old actor adds of his character and the titular thunder god. “There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.”

Well this wouldn’t really be the first time that the two have fought. In The Avengers, Loki forced Banner to become the Hulk. As he wreaked havoc on the helicarrier, Thor helped protect all the agents on board the airborne ship, and prevented Hulk from causing any more damage.

As a sign of gratitude, Hulk gave him a friendly love tap after the two had successsfuly brought down a Leviathan during the Chitauri invasion.

So with the Hulk now at a safe distance from the public, how does he get drawn into this supposed cosmic journey with Thor? If the two do become separated, it will surely have an effect on the relationship between Banner and Thor, perhaps we will see something along the lines of Thor realizing the Banner’s will is just as strong as the Hulk and that Banner needs the Hulk as much as the Hulk needs him. Of course this is just speculation.

Ruffalo also talked about how Ragnarok finally sees Marvel releasing their first apocalyptic film,

“I know that it’s about (the Norse legends of) ‘Ragnarok,’ or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor “” which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies.”

Well, it looks like Ruffalo is just as much out of the loop as we are. Of course, he could just be downplaying it all considering Marvel doesn’t want any of their stars to talk about any of their films.

Directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows), Thor: Ragnarok will also star Tom Hiddleston and Jamie Alexander. It opens in theaters on November 2, 2017.
