Last week on iZombie, Liv (Rose McIver) ate the brain of a country singer, which gave her the blues, over her relationship with Major (Robert Buckley). But everything made out at the end – literally. Also showing sparks were Blaine and Peyton (David Anders and Aly Michalka), Blaine pretending to be on the side of good by giving up Stacy Boss’s criminal dealings (to take it all for himself). Maybe the love of a good woman will change his spots? It worked for Spike. Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) even got a new love interest in the form of a new FBI agent assigned to a case. Go Clive!

Spoilers below.

iZombie 2.5 “Love & Basketball” review: A security guard/ volunteer basketball coach is murdered. Liv gets really into the pep talks and the yelling.

Liv and Major do some “major” kissing, but Liv is too afraid of STZs (sexually transmitted zombie-ism). So she puts them in the friend zone. It’s adorable and refreshing, how they both talk about Major’s handsomeness as a funny joke between them. When Major is confident and not despondent, he is super attractive. Liv really takes this friend thing to heart. She gives him the “Rocky” speech, gets him the gig coaching disadvantaged kids, gives him the will to give up drugs, and unbeknownst to her – he stops killing zombies on the list. No wonder he loves her.

Gilda (Leanne Lapp) finds out about the kiss between Liv and Major. What will she do with that info?

Clive and the FBI agent get closer. She makes him laugh while he is getting his ass handed to him by his boss, and delivers some news about some astronaut DNA found at Meat Cute. That’s romance.

Why doesn’t the scientist at Max Rager just feed her pet zombies some brains if she wants a coherent zombie?

Blaine sends a delivery of the tainted Utopium, for Ravi (Rahul Kohli) to start working on the cure. Unfortunately, his newest zombie is impatient and injects himself, which kills him instantly. What follows is a knock down drag out fight of awesome proportions to the tune of “Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure. Blaine knows a zombie-killing opportunity when he sees one. It’s one of the best scenes on the show to date.

Suzuki’s widow gives Clive a gift – a tupperware of brains.

And this entire episode was one of the best ones to date as well. Everyone had great scene(s) in it. It was funny, it was scary, it was fast – I loved it.

iZombie airs Tuesday nights at 9pm ET on The CW.

The CW’s synopsis:

Meanwhile, things get a little crazy when Blaine (David Anders) and Ravi are forced to work together to recreate the cure.
