Last week on Heroes Reborn, we went back to that fateful day, the entire series is based upon, June 13th, 2014, via Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oko) transport. Hiro brings Noah (Jack Coleman) to find out what happened to Claire. And he does. She died in childbirth, birthing twins. Hiro went to try to stop the bomb strapped to the Harris (Clé Bennett) clones. He popped back and forth through time trying to find a scenario that was not horrible if the bomb did not go off, and he couldn’t. So he had to let the bombs detonate. Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose) was at the hospital and told Noah and Hiro of the babies role in saving mankind. Hiro took her and the babies to 1999, so they’d be ready to save the day in 2015. June 13th, 2014 also caught the Collins family, hopeful and happy. So sad.

Spoilers below.

Heroes Reborn 1.7 “June 13th – Part Two” recap/review: Wow! Just wow! This was the episode that the original Heroes needed. The second half of that fateful Odessa day tied everything we have been watching so far together, while also introducing us to the “butterflies.” It showed us how everything that was different stayed the same, and how things that seemed the same were actually different.

In 1999, Hiro and Angela took one twin each and went their separate ways. The boy, Nathan, sucked Hiro’s powers. Hiro, found the nurse, and they raised Tommy/Nathan. Angela raised Malina in some sort of paradise refuge. Future Noah found Hiro and fam with Molly’s help. We see how their stories began – Tommy sent Molly to India, Noah back to the future, and his mom, the penny man, and himself far away, while Hiro stayed to fight Harris. The penny man made Tommy forget his stepdad, so he wouldn’t rush back into danger.

Did I mention that Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) was back and on the bad guy side? Well, mostly. He professed to care only about the welfare of his family, but then helped future Noah escape.

We see the continuation of the beginning of the Collins story. Poor Dennis did die, and when the freezing EVO comes to apologize, Joanne (Judith Shekoni) goes crazy, viciously stabbing him.

Carlos (Ryan Guzman) and Farah (Nazneen Contractor) used to be in combat together and together together, but then Carlos was a coward and Farah was invisible. She let him take the credit for heroism because the alternative wasn’t possible, but so was their relationship. Her words spurred his future bravery.

Perhaps the moments I enjoyed the most, surprisingly, was Miko’s (Kiki Sukezane) origin story. Right after Otomo (Hiro Kanagawa) put Hiro in the fortress, he heard about Hiro’s part in the Odessa attack. He needed a back door to get him out, so he made Miko… in the likeness of his child who died.

The moral of the story?

Two Noahs are better than one.

Fantastic episode. This was the show Heroes strived to be.
