With the premiere date for Marvel’s Jessica Jones just around the corner, Netflix and Marvel are giving us one last peek into the complicated and dark world of the heroine turned private investigator. Also, David Tennant‘s Kilgrave is already making a strong case to be the best Marvel villain in the MCU, hands down.
Check out the final trailer (they’re calling it the final trailer anyways) for Jessica Jones down below. It’s heavy on the presence of Luke Cage, on Jessica’s alcohol consumption, and of course the twisted evil that is Kilgrave.
Here’s a brief synopsis of the series from Netflix:
After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private detective in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s time the world knew her name…
The series’ first season premiers in its entirety, running 13 episodes, on Netflix on November 20th. Marvel’s Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage (who will star in his own series soon), Rachel Taylor as Trish “Patsy” Walker, Carrie Anne-Moss as Jeri Hogarth, and as mentioned before, David Tennant as Kilgrave aka The Purple Man. Melissa Rosenberg serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Liz Friedman and Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb also executive producing the series.
Let’s hope Jessica will be able to have the kind of success that another Defender, Daredevil, had on Netflix. Plans are currently to also release a series based on Jones’ love Luke Cage followed by one centered around the legendary Iron Fist in the future, all culminating with a team up series The Defenders. There’s also a second season of Daredevil featuring Punisher on the way. But first, let’s see if the Marvel Cinematic Universe can handle the hard-drinking, short-fused Jessica Jones.
