Last week on The Flash, another meta was sent through the breach, Dr. Light, a doppelganger for Barry’s ex Linda (Malese Jow). On Earth-2 she was just a thief, as Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) insists. Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) insists that Zoom can change a person. Dr. Wells also outs Cisco (Carlos Valdes) as a meta, now named “Vibe.” Not only is he a meta, he gets the girl, Ciara Renee, at least for one date. Barry and Patty (Grant Gustin and Shantel VanSanten) go on a blind date, because Barry is blind (thanks to Dr. Light) for a little while which she quickly figures out. We find out the real reason Dr. Wells wants to capture Zoom. He kidnapped his daughter.

Spoilers below.

The Flash 2.6 “Enter Zoom” recap/review: So… what did you all think about Zoom?

Zoom’s costume is just fantastically scary, and when you throw in Tony Todd’s terrifying voice, we have the best meta-villain to date, one not easily captured, and always one step ahead. His costume had nice touches with darker lightning bolts, almost like Zombie Flash.

But I get ahead of myself. Barry comes up with a plan to dress Linda up as Dr. Light after Cisco inadvertantly lets her out (not his fault – she turned invisible). There’s a fun training scene with Barry, Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Cisco, and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) cutouts, where Barry has to put her out when her hands are on fire. Barry also reveals himself to her. The plan falls flat. You think it was because of their on purpose bad acting, and the not well-hidden snipers? Maybe. But that’s where The Flash excels. The villain not showing up was palpable and unexpected.

Joe had another Mike Brady moment with Barry, his advice on forgetting about Thawne’s warning and being happy, resulting in Barry and Patty getting closer.

Of course, Zoom shows up on his own scary terms, catching lightning bolts, and dragging a beat up, rag doll Flash around town, to show Central City how he was no hero. Cisco slows Zoom temporarily, so he leaves Barry, but still escapes.

And although Barry has super healing, there is a terrible medical after effect of Zoom’s manhandling of Barry. It is the scariest thing Barry has ever had to face.

This episode had many awesome moments. Even the small ones were great, from Robert Queen being the Green Arrow on Earth-2 when his son Oliver died 5 years ago, to Wells’s daughter Jessy, being referred to as Jessy Quick from the comics.

This show never disappoints.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8pm ET on The CW.

The CW’s synopsis:

However, Iris (Candice Patton) shows her support and brings forth a surprising ally. We see what Earth-2 Harrison Wells’ (Tom Cavanagh) life was like before coming through the breech. JJ Makaro directed the episode written by Gabrielle Stanton & Brooke Eikmeier (#206). Original airdate 11/10/2015.

  1. Yep, this show consistently delivers and then some. I thought this episode would end with the Flash and Zoom beginning their face-off and that would be the cliffhanger. But instead we get a hectic fight where Barry almost dies and the whole situation ratchets up several more notches. Good stuff!
