‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer Attached To ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

While the titular villain of X-Men: Apocalypse has received some harsh criticism for not looking like his comic book counterpart, fans were still be excited by the fact that the upcoming film, which will end the First Class trilogy, would feature Marvel’s first mutant. We haven’t seen much in terms of footage since San Diego Comic-Con last summer. Maybe that was because everyone was just hyped to see Deadpool, which got a momentous positive reaction by everyone in Hall H.
Now we have a slight idea of when the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse will be released. According to the film’s producer, Simon Kinberg, it will be attached to theatrical showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. More on the story below.
Kinberg revealed the release to Collider.
I can in fact confirm that information. Our first trailer will be on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser but it’s certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it.
Some may not know this, but Kinberg is also an executive producer on Star Wars Rebels, as well as an Untitled A Star Wars Story film, so that may explain why we are seeing a X-Men: Apocalypse trailer attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens in theaters on December 18, 2015. No matter the reason, those who didn’t get to see it at Comic-Con will finally get to see what everyone was talking about.
Given what was shown over at Comic-Con earlier this year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some sort of condensed version of that for the trailer. Even though a lot of what was shown looked finished, a majority of time the Comic-Con trailers are cut and edited down for the theatrical release. But it is likely that we will get to see and hear Force Awakens star Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, while seeing some of the “new” and younger versions of Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler.
Directed by Bryan Singer, using a script written by Simon Kinberg (who is also a producer on the film), X-Men: Apocalypse stars Even Peters, Lucas Till, Lana Condor, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Ben Hardy, Alexandra Shipp, and Tye Sheridan.
Fox will release the film into theaters on May 27, 2016.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
