Last week on iZombie, the brains of the day belonged to a security guard/ basketball coach (for underpriveleged kids), and it was fun to see Liv (Rose McIver) be a tomboy again, especially talking about basketball with Clive (Malcolm Goodwin). She coaches Major back to life, getting him the job helping the kids, getting him off the drugs, and getting back together. Clive and his FBI lady get closer, I believe because of her superior mime skills. Blaine (David Anders) gives Ravi (Rahul Kohli) some tainted Utopium, and they make a startling discovery. Straight up tainted Utopium kills zombies instantly. They have a funny fight set to music which results in Ravi destroying the last batch. Mrs. Suzuki give Clive some brains.

Spoilers below.

iZombie 2.6 “Max Wager” recap/review: Last week bled into this week. Harry Cole, the gambler, whose actions caused the coach’s death, was taken out, and the suspect knows they won’t catch him. The clues lead them to a barber shop where bookies and lawyers hang out. Liv’s brain food makes her need Gamblers Anonymous.

Clive catches some chinese food with his FBI lady, Dale Bozzio, and they run into Liv and Major (Robert Buckley) holding hands and eating ice cream, cute as buttons. Dale and Clive are pretty cute too, making date jokes. Clive is troubled by them being back together, with good reason. I just hope he can take Major’s side when this all comes out.

Blaine’s dad (the awesome Robert Knepper) takes over his business, with threats of zombie-ism and death. My Blaine is so own in the dumps. He agrees to kill his dad’s rival. He kills his grandfather instead, whom he obviously loves (and who has the scariest face since the sister in Pet Semetary), in an attempt to thwart his evil zombie dad. Dear old dad takes over his business and threatens to scratch him. After all that, his dad goes “major”-ly missing.

Rick Fox guests as a basketball legend friend of Harry’s, whose fame cannot hide the guilty truth.

Stacy Boss (Eddie Jemison) is creepy as hell. First, he describes the perfect murder to Liv and barber shop inhabitants. Then, he shows up standing in front of Peyton’s (Aly Michalka) evidence board, making thinly veiled threats. It’s the voice. It is high and lilting – a voice belonging to a psychopath.

Liv and Major play sexy games via computer to be safe. But they cannot hold back much longer. Ravi is looking into the safety of zombie sex with condoms. No go.

I am so thrilled that Major is NOT a murderer! Yay! He’s just putting the zombies in a freezer. They are definitely waking up around, let’s say… the season finale. This twist made me happy for the Major being more than just killer “arm candy.” This is setting up to be a most wonderfully tied season arc.

Blaine was the star of the episode, ranging from his usual lovely snark, to barely repressed rage, to genuine fear and loathing, to heart break. He is always the star in my eyes, but I think everyone saw it this episode.

iZombie airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on The CW.
