Did you hear that? Erica (Cleopatra Coleman) is pregnant with Phil’s (Boris Kodjoe – oh, and not Tandy’s) baby! This is announced just as Phil punches Tandy (Will Forte) in the face, refuses punishment, and quits the group, and after Carol (Kristen Schaal) tries to get all the females to join the babymaking club. Everyone freezes.
Spoilers below.
So everyone is super pissed at Phil, who keeps trying to extricate the foot from his mouth and speak to Erica. Gail (Mary Steenburgen) is mother bear – “The whole group is going to be the father.”
Carol thinks Phil being in the doghouse is awesome for Tandy – “You should be kissing that dong!” Hahaha!!! It’s in the clip below. you gotta watch that convo!
Tandy feels kinda bad for Phil, but is torn. On one hand, Phil IS a dong. On the other, Tandy knows what being on the outs with the group feels like. Nice effect with the sad music vs. no music as the score to Tandy’s feelings.
And wow. Phil is really mean to Tandy, complete with his own score of ominous music – “Everybody’s life got worse the day they met you.”
There was a little montage of sadness. Carol takes negative pregnancy test after negative pregnancy test. Melissa and Todd (January Jones and Mel Rodriguez) are on the outs because Melissa considered getting pregnant by Tandy before Todd came along. She has changed her mind since. Todd is angry she never said anything, and thinks it’s him. Erica and Phil… well… for obvious reasons. Gail is lonely with her mannequin lover.
This episode was darker than most. Liked that. I too, felt bad watching Phil sit amongst all the lovingly hand-crafted furniture he made for his baby.
Tandy totally saved his life and his standing in the group, by forcing Phil’s “C to the T.” Phil may kill him though when he gets out.
I do love the episodes where there are more layers to Phil. It contrasts nicely with his overboard fakeness.
I don’t know. There’s only 3 episodes left, so I think Jason Sudeikis will be on. Plus he was shown in the promos for next week.
