New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Images: Kylo Ren Is Really Obsessed With Darth Vader and More

In less than two weeks, fans will finally get to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We know that J.J. Abrams is already finished with the film, and he and everyone else involved working on it are currently on a whirlwind press tour to help promote the film (not that it needs it because it pretty much markets itself). But as we wait long and longer, our anticipation grows at an incredible rate, and the TV spots that reveal nothing about the film only feeds our fever pitch. Now a set of new images have appeared to reveal a little more about The Force Awakens, but still doesn’t tell us much about the film at all.

Check out the photos after the jump.

These latest batch of released images comes from Rolling Stone. Of course whenever there are images like this released, there’s also a nice magazine to go with it. Brian Hiatt, the author of the article, goes into some of the film’s questions surrounding the film, behind-the-scenes stories, and more.

One of the biggest questions the film will attempt to answer is what happened to the Empire after Return of the Jedi. As expansive as the faction is, it couldn’t have all collapsed at once. Here’s what J.J. Abrams had to say:

“With any movie that ends with going off in the sunset and a celebratory moment, you can ask, “˜Well, what happened the day after? Then decades go past. We were literally asking, “˜Well, what happened to the disbanded Empire? What happened to the Republic?'”

Of course, staying vague about the film is what this marketing campaign and Abrams’ press strategy is all about. Even a year after the first teaser was released, we still don’t know much about The Force Awakens. But co-screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan offers a tiny morsel of an answer:

“Someone’s story doesn’t end with the big triumph. Life goes on. In those 30 years, a lot of things had happened in my life, so you have to assume that things have happened to these characters – and that was part of the fun of it.”

As little as we know about the film, we know even less about its characters. Although, there have been little bits of information have been released during the course of the production and promotional tour. We know that Kylo Ren is part of the Knights of Ren and that he is a Vader fanboy. Adam Driver (Girls) plays as the dark knight who wields a crossguard light saber that shimmers a red evil glow, and according to John Boyega (Attack The Block) he was pretty into the role, so much so he stayed in character in between scenes, going as far as leaving his helmet on even when they weren’t shooting:

“Do your thing, man. I mean, for me, I follow what Laurence Olivier or someone said: “˜Just act.’ But it was great to see him go for his process. It was intense.”

There is a whole lot more in Hiatt’s interview, which also included a small trip over to Bad Robot to get a glimpse of the editing process of the film where he apparently saw what the mysterious StarKiller base does and what Kylo Ren looks like without his helmet. So I suggest you head on over to Rolling Stone to get some possible juicy spoilers. As for the images, you can check them out in our gallery below.
