Two weeks ago on iZombie, a magician bit the dust, which turned Liv (Rose McIver) into Ravi’s (Rahul Kohli) favorite persona of all! This also was my favorite episode of the season, because of all the wonderful Blaine (David Anders)! He flirts with Peyton (Aly Michalka), he jokes with Liv, he’s handsome… it was great. Just the 2 lines, “”Did you eat Edgar Allan Poe?” and “Help me Zombie Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope,” had me dying. In my favorite teamup ever, they try to investigate who is killing zombies (it’s Major, guys!). Major (Robert Buckley) is affected by Liv’s brainy mood swings. Oh, and they solved the case.

Spoilers below.

iZombie 2.8 “The Hurt Stalker” recap/review: The title is the clue. A wedding planner/stalker is murdered. We see a guy attack her, but the killer bullet comes from far away. Turns out, she’s someone Clive used to date. That’s not that big a deal, but add that she made a photoshopped wedding book with him in it, and he left a threatening message on her voicemail, and that is one guilty-looking Clive.

So Liv has to be on stalker brain, which is so not good for her and Major’s already tenuous relationship. She looks through his phone and finds out about Rita, but not that it’s her roommate. Major looks like he is trying to be patient. He isn’t with anyone and is devoted to Liv, but he IS hiding a giant frozen zombie secret. Liv starts texting this Rita (who obviously actually has feelings for Major – her dad seems to also) as Major, so this secret will not last long.

Steven Weber is extra funny this episode, playing up the father bit to Rita, and the friend bit to Major. Vaughn is playing with the Max Rager formula to be less zombie-y, but it is putting the “rage” in Rager. It makes him like a steroid monster, which scares Major.

With Clive out of the game, Ravi and Liv play detective. They act as an engaged couple and Rahul Kohli stole these scenes (and the ones where they learn all this new stuff about Clive – GOT!). They do manage to crack the case sans Clive, however in the middle of all that, Liv gets thrown in jail for a few days, and almost eats her annoying cellmate. I was worried for her.

This show always delivers. Although last week was my favorite, seeing glimpses of Clive’s personal life, watching the evil father-daughter duo show humanity, and witnessing the complicated dance of Liv and Major’s relationship, made “The Hurt Stalker” quite awesome.

No Blaine, so that’s a bummer. He better be back next week!

iZombie airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on The CW.
