‘Ant-Man’ Interview: Peyton Reed Talks Heists, Villains & Sequels
  |  @   |

It’s no secret that Ant-Man had its share of production problems, but director Peyton Reed was able to pull everything together to make a really fun Marvel film that takes a slight side step from everything that is going on with the Avengers. In fact, Ant-Man was just the kind of break we needed from all the dark themes explored in some of the previous entries of the MCU, and can be considered one of the most grounded and relatable with the film exploring themes of fatherhood. Marvel’s final film in Phase 2 was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and is now getting a sequel appropriately titled Ant-Man and The Wasp.

And to help celebrate the upcoming release of Ant-Man on Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD, Peyton Reed is talking a little bit about how the film came together, and a little bit about the sequel as well in our on-camera interview. Watch our interview with the director here below.

In our interview, we talk about what makes such an obscure character like Ant-Man so much fun, how being a control freak helped him overcome the overwhelming time constraints that the film had after Edgar Wright left the project so close to its start date, some of the gag reels which sees star Paul Rudd bust a move, and learn that Reed and Rudd connected on set through music. We also talk a little bit about the sequel as well, which includes what Reed couldn’t do in Ant-Man that he would like to do in Ant-Man and The Wasp, some of his ambition for the sequel, and if he has an idea of what villain he would like to see.

Video Interview

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Thank you to Disney, Marvel, and Click Communications for giving us the opportunity to sit down with Peyton Reed.

Ant-Man is now out on Digital HD and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on December 8, 2015.
