Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Netflix Series Hires ‘Dexter’ Alum As Showrunner
  |  @   |

So far, Netflix and Marvel are two for two in terms of the success of their shows centering on the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen. Daredevil is already in the midst of production on its second season, while the recently launched Jessica Jones has been met with critical acclaim – though the expected start date for season two is very unclear. Now, with Luke Cage in production for its first season, Marvel and Netflix have just confirmed the showrunner for the mysterious Iron Fist series.

With rumors that the TV series wasn’t working, and that the two studios may opt to turn Iron Fist into a film, something needed to be done in order to ease some of those fears before even more wild rumors started to spread. And it seems that is happening, as there is a new report that says that Dexter and Six Feet Under alum Scott Buck has been hired to to serve as showrunner on Iron Fist. More on the story below.

Heroic Hollywood and ComicBook.com broke the news in a joint exclusive.

It’s not exactly clear what the theme of this show will be. Though we can make a few educated guesses thanks to the release of the Iron Fist logline:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Another huge question surrounding Iron Fist is when the series will make its debut. From what we know, Daredevil is already deep into production on season 2, with Luke Cage also in production for its first season. Because Defenders has to shoot by a certain time, and other logistics, its not very clear if Jessica Jones will get a second season. But it is expected that if it is, Jessica Jones season 2 would probably be launched around the same time that Iron Fist is released.

This means that Buck would need to cast for the show, write out scripts, and oversee production for a possible early to mid 2016 shoot, and the earliest we could see Iron Fist is most likely late 2016 or early 2017. Then Netflix and Marvel could move forward with the Defenders series crossover, in which case they would most likely need to find out who will act as showrunner for that miniseries as well.

As for who Scott Buck is, well some of his credits include the aforementioned Dexter and Six Feet Under. Other shows with darker themes also include Rome. But Buck as also been able to show that he has a sense of humor as he has written episodes for Everybody Loves Raymond, The Oblongs, and Coach.

We’ll keep you posted on any new developments surrounding Iron Fist when they come in.
