‘The Legend Of Tarzan’ Teaser Trailer Starring Alexander Skarsgard
  |  @   |

Earlier today, Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled the first Look at The Legend Of Tarzan starring Alexander Skarsgard as the title character.

Now, the studio has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action film.

Check out the new 2-minute trailer here below.

WB has pulled out all the stops with this adaptation of the popular Edgar Rice Burroughs story. Along with the True Blood star in the lead, the cast also includes The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie, who’s already making a splash as DC’s Harley Quinn in the promotions for WB’s upcoming Suicide Squad; Samuel L. Jackson, who needs no introduction; Oscar-nominee Djimon Hounsou, who was awesome in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy; John Hurt, the War Doctor, who was also Kane in Alien and more recently Mr. Ollivander in WB’s Harry Potter film franchise; Jim Broadbent, Oscar winner and another Harry Potter film alum; and Christoph Waltz, two-time Academy Award winner for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, an actor who sets the screen on fire every time he’s on it. Along with the impressive cast is director David Yates, who helmed the final four Harry Potter films, as well as their upcoming spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Here’s the official synopsis from WB:

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Unlike previous adaptations of the Tarzan tale, the new film won’t be an origin story about the British baby raised to manhood by apes in the jungles of Africa who later returns to his ancestral home to live as the Earl of Greystoke. Legend picks up 10 years after John Clayton, the man formerly known as Tarzan, returns home to Victorian-era London. He’s settled into an aristocratic life with his wife Jane, the American woman of “Me Tarzan, you Jane” fame he met in Africa, but now circumstances will find him back in the dark continent where a villainous captain has nefarious plans for him, not realizing just who he’s dealing with.

Produced by Jerry Weintraub, The Legend of Tarzan hits theaters on July 1, 2016, in 2D and 3D in select theaters and IMAX.

  1. All ERB adaptations make me nervous, but I am willing to give them all a shot, and keep back all expectations to see what they have to offer as unbiased as I can be. Still, it looks pretty good, and thankfully they are doing the “public domain” thing with the character—hence the title “Legend of Tarzan”. Which means anything could happen and we have no real source material to compare it to. Good move.
