Throes of Mankind Artist: Culture Killer CD | MP3
Metal Blade Records
Release Date: November 27, 2015
Culture Killer caused quite a buzz with it’s independently released 2014 EP Denial. So much so in fact that the Florida band landed a deal with powerhouse label Metal Blade. Their full-length debut album Throes of Mankind was released on November 27, 2015 and the buzz continues to build.
The record features ten tracks that showcase Culture Killer’s particularly brutal brand of metallic hardcore interspersed with groove metal and death metal elements. There is also a very strong political slant to the lyrics.
Guitarist/vocalist Hunter Young explains:
“The album hits on specific topics that the world has been battling: racism, human trafficking, pedophilia, addiction to prescription drugs, celebrity worship, etc.”
From the opening strains of “Blindfolded Death” right up to the final refrain of “Inhuman Nature,” Throes of Mankind is unrelenting and unforgiving. Nothing resembling a ballad or even really a contemplative moment to be found here. Culture Killer isn’t reinventing the wheel by any means, but they are exceptionally adept at what they do.
If you’re a fan of hardcore or death metal with moments that absolutely groove then you should definitely check these guys out. Album highlights include “Path of Reflection” (heard below), “Exterminate Filth,” “Justice Through Retaliation,” and “Flesh Empire.”
Rating 8.5 out of 10
