More ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie Photos Show Us Past and Present
  |  @   |

Yesterday, we were offered our first official look at Assassin’s Creed, 20th Century Fox’s big screen adaptation of the popular video game of the same name starring Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch. It has been confirmed that the film adaptation would take place in the same universe as the video game, but will be a separate story. Fassbender reunites with his Macbeth director, Justin Kurzel, as well as Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard.

Since the film is based on the same premise as the video game the film is based on, we will definitely be seeing Lynch as a descendant of a long line of Assassins. And these two new images are a reflection of that. Check out the two new images below.

Empire was the first to debut these two new images, which feature Fassbender playing as the sword-wielding Spanish assassin Aguilar and the modern-day imprisoned Callum Lynch.

The previously released image didn’t provide too much info as to what the film could be about, but these two new ones give us a little more insight that it would use elements from the game. By the looks of the cast, Assassin’s Creed looks to be one of the better video game film adaptations of recent memory. It will also have to contend with Duncan Jones’ Warcraft for that title, as it too will be released next year.

Since the film is due out for a late 2016 release, it may be a while before we can see anything that even resembles a trailer. But let’s just hope that it won’t have the same reputation as the other video game film adaptations that came before it.

Ariane Labed, Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons, and Michael K. Williams also star.

Assassin’s Creed follows a character by the name of Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Assassin’s Creed breaks into theaters December 21, 2016.
