Netflix's The Crown

Netflix has released trailers for a pair of their upcoming series, titled The Crown and The Get Down.

The Crown is created by Peter Morgan, who has previously worked on the scripts for The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, The Other Boleyn Girl, Frost/Nixon, The Damned United, Rush, and others. It’s a biographical story about the British royal family. The Get Down is created by Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, Australia, and The Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann and Shawn Ryan, who’s credited as creator/showrunner or producer on series like The Shield, Last Resort, The Unit, Lie to Me, and Terriers.

You can see who’s starring in the two series and watch the trailers below.

The Crown stars Claire Foy as Princess Elizabeth, Matt Smith as Philip Mountbatten, John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, Greg Wise as Lord Louis Mountbatten, Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, Jared Harris as George VI, Andy Sanderson as Prince Henry, Michael Culkin as Rab Butler, Nicholas Rowe as Jock Colville, Amir Boutrous as Gamal Abdel Nasser, and Eileen Atkins as Queen Mary.

The Get Down stars Jimmy Smits as Francisco “Papa Fuerte” Cruz, a South Bronx political boss who delivers services to his constituents that the city has failed to provide, such as jobs, housing and healthcare; Justice Smith as Ezekiel, a smart, resourceful teen, brimming with untapped talent and unrequited love, who is determined to make his mark in this world; Herizen Guardiola as Mylene Cruz, a tenacious girl with an incredible voice who dreams of becoming a disco star, a dream that is far outside the realm of her fiercely religious background; Shameik Moore as Shaolin Fantastic, a child of the streets, thrill-seeking, unpredictable, eccentric but above all, enigmatic; Skylan Brooks as Ra-Ra, a loyal, respected, protective friend and brother with his head screwed on tight, he’s the voice of reason beyond his years; T.J. Brown Jr. as Boo-Boo, a mechanically minded kid who is an irrepressible 40-year-old in a 14-year-old’s body; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Cadillac, a “fly gangster” and prince of the disco world who is the owner and proprietor of the most notorious after-hours night spot in the Bronx; Giancarlo Esposito as Pastor Ramon Cruz, Papa Fuerte’s brother and Mylene’s father, the charismatic head of the local Pentecostal church who attracts a flock of followers with his fiery sermons and firm, steady leadership; Mamoudou Athie as Grandmaster Flash; Jaden Smith as Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling, a “psychedelically talented and enigmatic graffiti writer raised in the South Bronx; Yolonda Ross as Ms. Green, the caring but tough English teacher who nurtures the potential in her students and advocates for them to pursue their talents; Zabryna Guevara as the wife of pastor Ramon Cruz and the mother of Mylene; and Sal Rendino as Stanley Kelly.

Both of the series will premiere sometime this year.
