‘JAWS’ Easter Egg In ‘Fallout 4’ (Images)

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 has been out almost two months now already and, apart from a small group of gamers who decided it was going to be cool to hate on this installment of the hit game franchise, fans of the series have been happily lost in and wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Commonwealth, discovering countless secrets and surprises and treats and treasures along the way. One such treat is a little Easter Egg referencing the Steven Spielberg classic JAWS.

Usually when I share an Easter Egg here at Geeks of Doom, it’s something I found while exploring the ‘net. For this particular Easter Egg, however, I actually stumbled upon it myself while exploring the Commonwealth in my own personal Fallout adventure. That’s not to say I’m the first to find it of course—I have no doubt that many have found and shared it online already. But if you’ve not yet seen it I took a bunch of snapshots including where you can find it in the game. You can check those out below!

The JAWS Easter Egg doesn’t involve anything too complicated you need to do to find it…unlike some others we’ve seen.

It began when I came across a boat, floating sad and deserted like so many other things in the wasteland of Fallout 4:

Upon boarding the vessel I was elated to discover a scene that immediately made me think of one of my all-time favorite movies:

But could it actually be a reference to JAWS, or just a little similar? Obviously the shark (or whatever the hell that mutated fish-thingy is) isn’t nearly as large as the beastie in the movie, and (SPOILER ALERT) the boat in the movie gets trashed as Quint (Robert Shaw) is eaten, but closer inspection confirmed that it is indeed a JAWS Easter Egg, with the skeleton not only wearing a blue shirt, but also having a blue bandana and machete near it:

But wait, it gets better. After deciding to go for a little radiation bath in the water (great for that tingly scalp sensation!) I discovered a diving cage similar to the one that Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) goes down in. Unfortunately, things don’t go as well for Hoop in Fallout 4 (apologies for the quality—the water, it is murky):

And finally, if you want to visit the ORCA yourself, here is where it’s located. If the images below, which show where exactly on the map you want your “You Are Here” marker to be, aren’t helpful enough, the best directions I can give are to find the bridge which has the USS Riptide stuck underneath it. While on that bridge, facing in the direction of Diamond City, if you look to your right you should see the boat off in the distance a bit in the middle of the water.

You can grab a copy of Fallout 4 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can also grab JAWS on Blu-ray or DVD if you don’t already own it, which would make me awfully sad.
