‘Deadpool’ Officially Gets R Rating From MPAA
  |  @   |

If you couldn’t shake the fear that—despite everything that we’ve seen and heard regarding Deadpool being as faithfully gory and graphic as fans of the comic book have always demanded the movie be—20th Century Fox might try to pull a fast one and ultimately reveal it to actually be rated PG-13 shortly before release, worry not my friends.

Though your fears were understandable (why, if we’ve all known for a long time now that star Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller had been given permission to make an R-rated flick and we’ve seen with our own eyeballs the ultra violent red band trailers, would promos released as early as this week still say “This Film Is Not Yet Rated”?), Deadpool has been officially awarded that badge of honor R-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. Continue reading to find out what exactly the movie has been given that R rating for.

According to the MPAA rating, Deadpool has been rated R for the following: “Strong Violence and Language Throughout, Sexual Content, and Graphic Nudity.”

In addition to the rating, the movie is continuing its aggressive but amazing marketing campaign. After seeing the hilarious romantic comedy ads aimed toward Valentine’s Day audiences, a billboard aimed toward those who can only comprehend emojis has also been spotted:

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Ed Skrein as Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus.

The movie is directed by Tim Miller, and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

You can finally see Deadpool when it hits theaters on February the 12th.
