Watch The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Super Bowl Spot

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice isn’t the only superhero comic book film featuring a story of two heroes on opposing sides. Captain America: Civil War is the third entry in the Captain America film franchise that will be an adaptation of the hugely popular story arc featured in Marvel Comics.

We’ve been covering the film for the past few months eagerly waiting to see more from it, including who the villain is and our first look at Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Of course with new trailers and TV spots, especially one of this size airing during today’s Super Bowl, there’s going to be plenty of new footage everyone will be talking about.

Check out the new Super Bowl TV spot here below.

For those who may not remember, Civil War takes place after the events of Age of Ultron, where governments and nations from around the world can no longer tolerate the Avengers’ vigilantism. In an effort to stop the massive destruction from ever occurring again, a governing body is created to oversee and direct the team. Obviously, this does not sit well with Rogers who believes that the Avengers should be able to operate without oversight or rules. And this comes as a shock as the usually renegade Iron Man supports the idea of a governing body. The two opposing ideas will put Cap and Iron Man’s friendship to the test.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.

Here’s the official plot synopsis.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps””one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd and Frank Grillo, with William Hurt and Daniel Brühl.

Along with the new Super Bowl TV spot, Marvel has released new related emojis to use on Twitter. Here’s the details:

As part of an exciting new Twitter campaign, 11 new character emojis are now available, and fans are encouraged to Tweet using #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan to declare their allegiance to their favorite Marvel characters. In addition, fans can create their own super team using the Captain America emojis and #TeamCapSweepstakes or #TeamIronManSweepstakes for a chance to win a walk-on role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – Part I.
