‘The Brothers Grimsby’: Jimmy Kimmel’s Audience Reacts To Scene That Almost Led To NC-17 Rating

The Brothers Grimsby Banner Image

Recently Borat and Les Miserables star Sacha Baron Cohen paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! and brought along a clip from his new movie, The Brothers Grimsby. The only problem with this particular clip was that it was too graphic to actually show on television. In fact, the clip was so graphic that it apparently almost got the movie an NC-17 rating. As Cohen reveals at the end they still had to trim a few minutes to get it past the Motion Picture Association of America with an R-rating, so that gives us an idea of what we’re dealing with here.

Because Kimmel was unable to actually show the clip on TV, they instead showed the audience watching and reacting to watching it. A pretty smart marketing tactic, as watching people reacting to something can sometimes make you want to see it even more than any trailer or clip would. It’s just a good thing the Fine Brothers abandoned their evil plot to take control of reaction videos.

You can check out the video below, along with a new red band trailer for the movie.

SYNOPSIS:

Nobby (Sacha Baron Cohen), a sweet but dimwitted English football hooligan, reunites with his long-lost brother Sebastian (Mark Strong), a deadly MI6 agent, to prevent a massive global terror attack and prove that behind every great spy is an embarrassing sibling.

Nobby has everything a man from Grimsby could want, including 11 children and the most gorgeous girlfriend in the northeast of England (Rebel Wilson). There’s only one thing missing: his little brother, Sebastian, who Nobby has spent 28 years searching for after they were separated as kids. Nobby sets off to reunite with Sebastian, unaware that not only is his brother MI6’s deadliest assassin, but he’s just uncovered plans for an imminent global terrorist attack. On the run and wrongfully accused, Sebastian realizes that if he is going to save the world, he will need the help of its biggest idiot.

The Brothers Grimsby is directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans, Now You See Me), and will be released in theaters on March 11, 2016.

If you missed it, we saw a trailer for the movie not too long ago that’s not NSFW like the one below.

  1. People who think Sascha Baron Cohen is funny make me sad.

  2. Depends on the movie. Ali G, Bruno, Borat = awful.
The Dictator, Talladega Nights, Madagascar = good.
