Last week on Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) tried to end the blood feud between Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) and Oliver’s “wife” Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law). Nyssa wanted Oliver to kill Merlyn in exchange for Thea’s (Willa Holland) cure. Oliver tried a diplomatic approach, but that did not work. Merlyn attacked, so Oliver cut off his hand and gave Nyssa the ring. Nyssa, proving her to be the better person, melted the ring to get rid of the bad legacy. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) realized her dad was the foe from the previous week, and wanted to trust him, but tested it first. He failed.

Spoilers below.

Arrow 4.14 “Code of Silence” review: Darhk’s wife is running against Oliver. The team thinks they have the upper hand knowing her true identity, but she sets up Green Arrow for an ambush. They can’t find Darhk through her. He is way too smart for that.

Malcolm Merlyn is now part of Darhk’s organization. He took a meeting (a meeting where Darhk Vader’d a guy on Skype). Everyone knows Lance has been helping the vigilantes (Malcolm confirms). The revenge? A trap is set. Lance and Laurel are almost flattened in a crumbling building.

Donna is going overboard with the party planning for the wedding. I’ve heard “Pin the junk on the hunk,” quite a few times. But Lance crushes her by putting distance between them to keep her safe, for her own good… you know, the Oliver Queen book of secrets. When will these men ever learn?

They find the base of operations but it’s like they forgot how to fight. The hotel is demolished, and Speedy narrowly escaped with the laptop. Cue romantic reminiscing between Oliver and Felicity. I liked the little sweet look between them.

The flashback scenes are getting more interesting, as they tie it to the present. Oliver finally killed Conklin.

Thea figures out that Oliver has a son, by chasing a mysterious million dollar check. But she’s on his side with this, because it will keep William safe, and it’s what the mother wants.

It’s time for his big debate, but surprise! H.I.V.E. is going to demolish the debate site with everyone in it.

The building is evacuated except for the team. White Canary gets nail gunned. Diggle (David Ramsey) pretends he’s Magneto with sledgehammer guy. It’s quite the fun fight.

Oliver won the debate that was not supposed to happen. It would have been interesting to hear the debate – issues and such, but there was not a lot of time left over from the fight scenes.

Curtis (Echo Kellum) won the episode though, by coming up with a device (using Palmer tech) that will help Felicity walk again.

Darhk, however, is winning the war by kidnapping William. Crazy! Everything is going to come out next week.

And… Vixen.

The episode was steady and good, with the last 10 minutes being the payoff.

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8pm ET on The CW.
