With Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist officially cast, it’s about time their respective Netflix shows started rolling out. Daredevil Season 2 will be released next week; Jessica Jones is green lit for season 2, and Game Of Thrones star Finn Jones was recently cast as Iron Fist. Mike Colter has already made an appearance as Luke Cage in a couple of episodes of Jessica Jones. Like all the Defenders, he will be getting his own solo series, and now Marvel and Netflix have announced when that series will make its debut on the streaming site. Find out more on the story below.
Colter revealed the release date of the series while on the red carpet for the Daredevil Season 2 premiere in New York City. According to the actor, all 13 episodes of Luke Cage will be available on Netflix on September 30, 2016. Check out the video from the premiere below, which first appeared on Facebook; Colter is interview around the 2:07 mark.
Now, it is highly unlikely that Iron Fist will appear in Luke Cage, the way Luke Cage appeared in Jessica Jones. Of course, with the series set to premiere at the end of September, anything is possible. But seeing as Jones was just cast a few weeks ago, and series star Cheo Hodari Coker most likely busy putting the show together in time for its premiere, getting the Heroes for Hire to appear in at least one episode may not happen.
Little is known about the series itself. We do know that Luke Cage will be set in Harlem, and that it will star Alfre Woodard as Black Mariah, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, and Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe. Rosario Dawson is also said to reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple.
As previously mentioned, with all the Defenders finally cast, we can expect to hear more about Iron Fist and hopefully a little more about The Defenders miniseries in the coming years.
